Intermediate frequency quenching is a common metal heat treatment process, which uses the alternating electromagnetic field generated by the intermediate frequency induction current to induce alternating current in the metal workpiece, so as to achieve the process of surface heating and rapid cooling. The following are the main characteristics of medium frequency quenching:
1. Obvious surface modification: Due to the skin effect, the current is mainly concentrated on the surface of the metal parts, resulting in a rapid rise in surface temperature, while the internal temperature changes are small. This heating method can make the workpiece surface quickly reach the quenching temperature, and then through water cooling or other cooling methods, the surface is quickly cooled and the phase change occurs, so as to obtain a high hardness surface layer.
2. Fast heating speed: The heating speed of medium frequency induction heating is much higher than that of traditional flame heating or resistance heating, which can effectively reduce the oxidation and decarbonization of the workpiece and maintain the finish of the workpiece surface.
3. Energy saving and high efficiency: medium frequency quenching equipment usually adopts IGBT solid-state inverter technology, which has high energy conversion efficiency and can significantly reduce energy consumption.
4. Easy to control: Medium frequency quenching can accurately control the depth and hardness of the hardened layer on the surface of the workpiece by adjusting the power, frequency and cooling time and other parameters.
5. Environmental protection and no pollution: Compared with traditional heating methods such as gas, coking coal and oil furnaces, medium frequency quenching does not produce smoke and harmful gases, which is more environmentally friendly.
